PREVIEW
So you’re thinking about joining the
International Churches of Christ? Have you considered that:
-
Kip McKean, the undisputed leader of the ICC,
teaches that members’ contributions should be monitored and that leaders
of his movement are to "make sure" that all their members tithe. The way in which the ICC demands their
"special contribution" has often resulted in disciples being pressured
and coerced in their giving, in clear violation of the Scriptural
command that giving should not be by compulsion (II Cor. 9:7). (See What Happened?,

-
The ICC teaches that only members of the ICC are
saved and that everyone else is lost and going to hell. (See 3 Questions and What
Happened?)
|
-
Many sincere members of the ICC have been kicked
out, and thus told that they were lost and going to hell, for not
baptizing enough new members into their group - others have been made to
live in fear and guilt that they are in sin if they haven’t baptized
someone recently - all based on a false and erroneous interpretation of
John 15:8 (See Bring
Forth Fruit)

In their own words (See Quotes by Leadership of the
ICC, Additional Quotes

-
Leaders of the ICC initially lied, perpetrated more
lies, and have persisted in unrepentant lies about what happened to
hundreds of sincere members of the ICC in Indianapolis. (See What
Happened?)
-
Many former members of the ICC have claimed that
confidentiality of members confessed sins has been routinely violated by
leaders of the ICC. There has even been discovered a computerized "Sin
List" which was passed between ICC leaders! False teaching and practices
concerning confession of sins, coupled together with violations of
confidentiality by ICC leaders - has resulted in many people being
spiritually abused, hurt and damaged by the International Churches of
Christ. (See Confess
Your Sins)
|
-
While many ICC leaders exhort those in their
congregations to live financially sacrificial lifestyles so they can
give more money to the movement, many ICC leaders are doing just the
opposite. (See Leadership
Lifestyles of the International Churches of Christ)
-
Through the years the ICC has gained quite a
reputation among Christian cult researchers and counter-cult workers as
being an authoritarian, spiritually abusive cult-like group -- because
of some of their unbiblical abusive teachings and practices and the
large number of people who have been spiritually hurt and abused by such
practices. (See Led By Men

-
It is the teaching of the ICC that the kingdom
prophesied about in Daniel 2:31-45 and "the church" are one and the same
entity, and that this kingdom came into existence on the day of
Pentecost. It is further taught that the ICC is the one and only
true church. By logic, this means that the
kingdom is limited to the membership of the ICC. Is this supported in
Scripture? See "Thy
Kingdom Come"

What does the leadership of the ICOC teach on the subject of dating?
Is the leadership of the ICOC attempting to regulate the dating lives of the members through
“man made” rules not supported in Scripture? Read about the experiences of former members and
the quotes by ICOC leadership which validate their claims of abuse and manipulation.

Have
significant changes taken place in the teachings and practices of the
ICOC in the past 6 years as many current members continue to assert?

leadership compared with statements made prior to 1996 challenge those
assertions. (Still More Quotes
